Let's talk about the itr abs system.
I'm thinking of adding the itr abs system to my smf v2 car.
But is the itr abs system the same as the gsr or Ls abs system?
Is it programmed to be more aggressive or to compensate for the bigger itr brakes?
Can it be installed as a standalone without using all of the itr wiring harness?

Ken the ABS pump is the same for all 98-01 Integra's but the ABS computer is different between the Type R and GSR ? I wonder if it is different programming??
98-01 GSR ABS unit : 39790-ST7-A21 ABS UNIT
98-01 Type R ABS Unit :39790-ST7-A31 ABS UNIT
97 Type R ABS Unit : 39790-ST7-A11 ABS UNIT
98-01 GSR ABS unit : 39790-ST7-A21 ABS UNIT
98-01 Type R ABS Unit :39790-ST7-A31 ABS UNIT
97 Type R ABS Unit : 39790-ST7-A11 ABS UNIT
Ya I'm pretty sure it's different, but how?
All I know is my 91si with itr abs stops like the hand of god comes down every time you jam on the pedal!
I hate to take it out if I can find another itr abs and install that in my 88std, but damn driving it without the itr abs sucks!

I deleted my abs ( fire suit activated) lol. I like the way it feels I upgraded brake pads and did the stop tech lines. Car only come out on nice days. Have got caught in the rain but didn't have any issues. To me I feel closer with the car without the abs.
Flat spot a set of Hoosiers and then tell me how much you don't need abs.
Seriously though, to drive without abs all you need to do is pull a fuse.
A brake tuck is really diminishing the value of the car, and compromising the safety.
And yes, the itr abs has been tested by pro drivers who turned better laps with abs active.

The ITR ABS system is different, but only in it's callibration. Though you should be aware the wheel sensors have different part numbers (no idea why though). The static brake bias is more rearward on the ITR vs the other Integras, so everything in the reaction of the computer must be different to compensate. The increased rear bias of the brake system does give the ITR greater potential to stop quicker though. Either way if your car is using ITR sized rotors & calipers, then the ITR computer will be for you. If you have the smaller 4-wheel discs, then consider using GSR/LS brain.
If you check the wiring diagrams, I'm pretty sure you'll find the ABS system is a stand-alone. If I remember correctly, it has no connection to the ECU. Therefore adding it in should be quite simple. If your chassis didn't have ABS to begin with, you will probably want to consider adding an ABS warning light to your dashboard though.
BTW: only the 98+ Integras received the upgraded 4-channel ABS system that showed up early on the 97 Type-R. 97 and earlier non-R integras all had the older 3-channel aftermarket-style ABS system.
