RHD and JDM conversion on a 2001 black itr
Hey, HT guys. I just bought a 2001 Acura Integra Type R. I dont know the badge number, but the vin number on the car is a legit Type R. It has 108k miles on it. Pretty much stock everything. I was wondering. Will the car lose its value if i did a RHD and JDM front end conversion on it, well pretty much make it a JDM Type R. I dont know how the go abouts on making a RHD, but i heard to make it a legit RHD you have to cut the front clip of the car and weld on a a JDM front clip. Correct me if im wrong, but i know that if you cut out the firewall of the car only its still gonna have some USDM parts too but you'll have your vin number. Im from California and i noticed that most of the jdm front clips dont have air bags, will that be an issue with California vehicle inspections?
And the JDM conversion is cool, I did it to mine, but after it's said and done I kinda wish I hadn't. It looks awesome but after awhile you start to miss the stock look. Plus it's a challenge to do it 100% right. A lot of the conversions you by are used and have damage so you spend a lot of time fixing it and then you gotta paint it.. so that $1000 conversion ends up costing $1500+.
After it's said and done you'd be better investing that kind of cash into your stereo/wheels/suspension/car and engine maintenance.

Thought the exact same.
I am not getting trolled!
If OP thinks it is wise to do this nothing we say will stop him. He'll find out when he goes to sell it and looks at all the receipts for the conversion then what he actually gets out of the car. Then, after he cries, he'll realize how dumb it was.
But hey, one less clean titled ITR makes mine worth more.
I say do it OP
Nice.
Even better.

I would have to agree with todd !
sad that even people think about this stuff... just go and buy RS and do what ever you want to it and sell your ITR that would be your best choice.

X3.......
Dont do it... You can buy a '94-'95 RS and go to town. Then since its OBDI (atleast here in NY) you dont have to hook-up for state inspection....
Is the JDM front appealing? It certainly is. Honestly, IMO, I think the JDM front looks best in a NON-ITR color.... The MR is pure sex, but Ive seen some different color Teg's with JDM fronts that'll make you drool....atleast i did...
But to chop a stock ITR is just wrong... Who sold you the car? Did you tell them you were going to put a JDM front on it? Because they prolly wouldnt have sold it to you.
I said don't do it man. If u wana JDM right hand side then u should buy the real ITR JDM before u purchase USDM Black ITR. Is hard to see when u drive on the right hand side in the US and u will lose a lot of value of ur car. U can do JDM conversion front end that would be fine. I saw last couple month there are a guy sale Real JDM ITR local in Northern CA i forgot his user name u can go craiglist and find down. If u wana JDM ITR then sale ur Black USDM and save money to buy the Real JDM from Japan that my advice.
Its your car and you can do what you want. I did see however an RS converted to JDM RHD Type R on ebay and the bidding went up and past 13K which surprised me. But it had everything done to it.
But if you must convert your car into a mail delivery vehicle, an RS would be a good starting point. That or a salvaged titled R or R shell.
Wow. There are some pious people in here. Talking about this car like it is a holy grail and admonishing this guy on its desecration. When it is all said and done it is just a car. If you cannot help him, just go about your business.
thats something a None R owner would said... You just wotn understand until you really apriciate what you have. and how unique they are in every single way.
first off its called a ITR front end. its not an accord front end.
and second because some people admire the look of the cars from japan but cant afford/know how to import one to the states
