is a pre mixed factory color a cheaper paint job than a custom one?
just wondering if getting a factory pre mixed paint is cheaper than having the ppl make a custom color
and if i have a black car and want it the same factory black can they just ruff mine up and lay down another few coats of black or does it all have to come off down to metal or close to it.

There are different lines of paint with varying degrees of quality and durability. Cheaper ones normally come with a small selection of preset colors. If you are going with a bc/cc you will be able to choose any existing color. Just search on the internet or go to the paint store and look trough the books.
Yes you can just scuff the paint and shoot over but if its just a spot repair it will need blended in.

just depends on the paint code and what all is in it. IF that code has alot of pearls or is a 3 stage color then the price goes way up.
Depends on what kinda of quality you want. It's just like everything else. Just because it is expensive doesn't mean it's good but if you want good you will have to spend money.
everyother paint job would be a 2 stage , which just contains the base coat (color) and your clear. unless you get into single stage which is usually your acrylic enamels. single stage because it doesnt have the clear coat seperate. just drys as a glossy, matte or flat finish (depending on what finish you choose) not saying you cant get clear for enamel , because you can.
imo if you go custom make sure you have extra made up at the same time because if you ever have rust, fender bender etc... it will be the biggest pain in the butt trying to match.
you could always mix and match colors and pearls from factory codes/formulas to create a "custom" one off job on your car.
hope that helps some.
