I bought a s2 tuner stage 1 cam off a member here and it has the h01 etching on the top and an M in the center of the cam, but it also has a hole drilled into it.. I've seen the videos about fake s2 cams and such and it seem that the hole makes it a fake... Do the knockoffs have the etchings on the top as well?? I hope i'm not out $230 over this...

 

called skunk2 just now they told me they are not theirs.

 

skunk2 cams do not have holes in them. they are iron, therefore it would make them brittle.

 

yeah I pmed the guy and opened a dispute on paypal, hopefully this gets resolved quickly..

 

anyone know if there are fake cam gears as well? Want to make sure mine are real...

This is Jesse, the seller of these cams. I want to get to the bottom of this, and if in fact these cams are fake, I will accept them back no questions asked. Ill even cover shipping both ways for Dominique. But before that happens, I ask that Dominique first posts a few pictures of the camshafts, with identifying marks that indicate these are fake. I have seen so much back and forth from Skunk2 saying what defines camshafts as real vs fake, and I do not think Skunk2 knows for sure due to so many manufacturing lots. Before selling, I called Skunk2 to verify, and was told nothing about these holes; just the markings (I was told they were stage 2, they ended up being stage 1 )

I have been selling on this forum for years, and am a ebay powerseller- never have I had anyone accuse me of being a scammer. I want to make sure this is resolved in a fair way.

I'm sorry if it came off that I was accusing you of being a scammer. I don't know any backstory about these cams and don't want to jump to any conclusions about you or this and I was trying to refrain from posting your username until we resolved this ourselves.

I took some pictures of the cams, but the best I have is an ipod touch to take pictures with..






You can see the hole in the center of the camshaft, and the second picture has the M stamped into the center as well. The third picture attempts to show the grooves in the ring and the last picture is of the h01 etching.

I was told that the etching would not be that bright/white because they coat the cams after etching it, and the hole in the center is the biggest giveaway that these are not genuine s2.

 

I really appreciate you not bringing my name up and giving me the opportunity to handle this. Any chance you can take with a different camera to show more detail. I definitely see a hole.

I think we need 2 more things:
1) Skunk2 to confirm holes should not be there
2) confirmation that the pictures are of cams sent (90% sure they are but just want to see better pics to confirm)

Then I will print postage, mail to you via PDF in email and then you can ship back for full refund.

I've ha these same cams in my turbo car, they are indeed confirmed "fake" by skunk2.

BUT they measure out identical to the S2 cams and perform as expected. For $230 they are absolutely worth the money. If the OP wants to sen the cams back I may know someone who is interested. PM me if there is interest.

 

Dom, I refunded money. Please let me know when I will be receiving my camshafts.
