I have a 2004 Accord, V6 which 'hesitates'. slow speed stutter, no engine miss and no EDC. flat ground or hill doesn't seem to matter. 128000 miles. transmission fluid change didn't help or hurt.
any suggestions on where to look

 

I assume your CEL is not coming on. Probably would not hurt to check for codes anyway, perhaps stop by your local AutoZone and have them scan your car (for FREE).

My best ‘arm chair diagnosis’ would be dirt on the throttle plate. There is also a screen on the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) that can be plugged up.

Have you done your normal maintenance? Spark Plugs, Air Filter, Ignition parts?

Have you had your timing belt replaced? Valves adjusted? I suppose it could also be a dirty EGR valve.

You might also try to reset the ECU. You can do this by pulling the 7.5 amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box for a minute (or disconnect battery terminal). Reconnect and start vehicle, let warm up without touching the gas. The ECU will relearn. A cheap try.

 

Crashmaster, thanks for all the suggestions. I'll look at them. Normal maintenance including plugs ( including helicoil in 1st cylinder, when I didn't tighten that plug and stripped the threads completely) have been done. Timing belt probably needs replacing. don't think I have done that.
