I have a Honda Accord 2000 6cyl 4dr, with check engine light on, checked the code and it said the evap emission control system leak, so i was wondering if someone can give me information or pictures of what tubes/hoses are part of the evap system???

 

What is the code?

Hi, I have the 01 Accord with the V6 engine. I too have had repeated engine light coming on. Each time I tighten down on the gas cap, the light clears after several engine cycles. the LAST time it happened (recently), I replace the gas cap with an OEM one,,,the CEL goes off. Yesterday, i got the CEL again..perhaps i did NOT tighten the g cap down hard enough again.

BUT - my question is,,,with a NEW g cap on there - what else could be causing this... the EGR thing, or the two 02 sensors? I need to get this fixed to i can pass my EPA vehicle test in Illinois. thx.

 

 

Hi, I have a 1457 code. It actually cleared again two days ago (after I think I did NOT screw down the gas cap about a week ago). I am/was ready to change out the vent shut valve (first) as per what I read was 90% of the cause of this CEL. After that, it says to change to Purge Control Valve and the 2way-valve. All in all - I'll wait to see if it comes back...hard to believe that the gas cap not being on tight will cause the 1457 code; as I understand they ARE ? or ARE NOT ? dependent on each other. stay tuned,,,thx for your reply.
