MAPerformance customer service and product review
Recently i purchased a turbo kit from a company called Modern Automotive Performance, MAP. They aren't huge in the honda game because they deal mostly with mitsubishi and subaru but as any smart buisness would do they would lime to get more of us honda guys. I bought the kit from the head sales guy Dan Carey and i can only say great things about him. He gave me a wicked deal on all the stuff i bought and if he doesnt have something chances are he can get it (he will even go out of his way to do it). As for the products themselves once again amazing. All of the plumbing is custom bent for the engine and chassis you have. Mine was perfect. The kit was all name brand stuff like precision and turbo smart so they dont cheap out on quality. The turbo has absolutely no lag, not that its a huge tubo but still, and everything is in perfect harmony. It makes great power too. Standard bore b18 with 9:1 pistons got me 408 hp on 14 psi and 93 octane. In conclusion i have had nothing but a great experience with them and will be doing all my business there and highly recommend everyone else considering it too by either calling Dan at 1800 maperformance or Maperformance.com
glad you had good experience with them. They are kind of behind of the honda scene here in MN since they was stuck on Mitsubishi.
Funny that I see this on national forms....
It's taken a lot for me to change my views on MAP.
Disclosure:
I don't work for MAP.
I am MAP biggest brutally honest critic.
I tolerated MAP solely because I've been friends with the tuner for 9yrs.
I disliked that MAP had little to no interest in Hondas....BUT...
I can't blame then for it cause when you a operation the size of MAP (+25 staff & 14,000 sqft of overhead), business decisions have to be made to focus on a market that's less saturated than Honda.
I disliked that MAP had little to no interest in Hondas... BUT...
I had to admit that I preferred having them in MN cause they do more good than most combined in terms of growing the local import scene such as hosting annual Proving Grounds, to 5-6 annual dyno days for various forms (honda, mazda, mustang, dsm, audi/vw) & raising $thousands annually for cancer awareness/research from their Boost for Boobies annual fundraiser.
IMHO, Chris & Kyle as owners (Dan is Chris's brother) they are aware to of what they capable of & but also diligently working on how to improve & expand.
.... So when MAP asked me for some feed-back, I didn't hold back my FRUSTRATION... haha
But I didn't want to be a bi#ch & complain with no solutions.
Before I teamed up with MAP in Jan 2012 & gave them a chance to prove to ME that they want to be part of the honda community.
They have not let me down even if we disagree along the way.
Great 2012 YEAR for the local honda scene. What MAP as given back to the local guys are:
~ TOP GRADE quality fab
~ rock bottom pricing on parts
~ awesome in-house block & head machining/porting
~ flexible in dyno tuning scheduling & rates
~ partial sponsorship to a few guys.... a first for them. lol
~ over 65 honda's TUNED from April to Oct .... normally 20ish per MN season lol
MAP has grown & moving in to their 30,000sqft facility starting 2013!
For sure you can bet I'll be making sure they don't loose sight of the honda guys.
I have a few things lined up for next year...
