H22 Swap Help!!!
Im thinking of doing an h22 swap into my ef, but im worried about the oil pan being to low to the ground. Are there smaller oil pans in production?? and Whats the down fall to this swap??? Opinons please
You don't have much of a choice, either the hood closes and you have poor ground clearance or you have good ground clearance and have to modify the hood (in certain cases extensively). I've seen threads asking about a low clearance oil pan, haven't actually seen one. This topic is one of those topics you really have to search multiple threads to get the info you're looking for. People get creative with trying to get the engine to fit the way they want it and you'll have to read through a few threads to come up with your own game plan.
Let me be one of the guys who actually knows about installing a H into an EF.... I used ESP mounts and have 0! I MEAN 0 complaints! Hood clearence is fine as well as the oil pan.... Im lowered on F&F 2's and have yet to smack the pan/header on anything.... I live in Bmore so that should give you a little insight as to the abuse my **** takes. 5 months strong and not a problem. Weight isnt an issue as well I have the stock LX brakes on my car and this bitch has stopped every time!
Ill even take a picture if youd like to see under the car. I believe its about 3" off of the ground to the bottom of my header/oil pan. I could be wrong and it could be more or less but ill check if it stops raining.
Im not the op but id like to see some pics cause i have a crx and a euro r sitting in garage and was leaning towards esp.. Tia

Going out now to take some pics... DONT HATE ON MY ENGINE BAY! I newbed a spray bottle of Purple Power all over the Aluminum..... OPPS! No worries I have another H sitting in wait until this one blows up!
Well what are your plans? The only thing I had a problem with was the clutch cable. There is NO! Adjustment what so ever, supposidly and by the pictures included I should of had enough to install the cable then tighten but NOPE I actually had to force the cable on with a pry bar. No wonder why my clutch is slipping now! Other than that, Im very happy with the mounts and traction bar.
I just have a 89 crx si sitting in the yard and a good euro r in the garage.. I just want a faster car then my accord and something to take to the drags and have fun.. Im having a tanny built right now then gonna get the mounts and all the other odds and ends.. I already have a couple daily drivers but need to do something with the crx instead of let it just sit there..
Yea i got an alright job but am trying to get a better one.. Ive just basically came across good deals here and there.. I do have to say this honda game is more expensive than i thought but im in now and dont plan on backing out.. The tranny is a pretty good chunk of money but at least i know its all new and not used i have a thread on it.. Tranny is probably gonna cost more than the mounts and everything else needed but idk yet only time will tell..
But you can still stick some fingers in your wheel gap. You gotta remember typical lowered cars (on HT specifically) usually have no gap in the wheel well and most likely have a tire tucking ride height. You're car looks stock height compared to what most people end up at after lowering their car.
24 You make a good point, im lowered but im getting older and dont want my **** tucking 16's! With that being said I guess if your planning to swap in a H then youll stay CLOSE to stock height. If you want to slam it you WILL have no room for error.
