Whats the point of the coolant resouviour on 7th gen civics?
I dont get it, just want to clear this up. You do a coolant change, you drain the coolant from the bottom of the rad by removing the white cap on the bottom of the rad. But when you refill after with coolant, you pour the new coolant into the rad cap and not the coolant res. So that makes me ask, whats the point having a cap on the coolant res?
When i pour new coolant should i pour it some into the res as well as the rad or just the rad?

The reservoir doesn't hold much. Even when you do a coolant change, having that little bit of "old" coolant isn't going to hurt any.
You could empty the reservoir and pour in new coolant if you wanted to. (between the min and max lines, of course)
The cap prevents debris from entering the reservoir.
When your engine heats up to optimal temperature, it draws a little coolant from the reservoir into the system. After the car cools back down, the excess coolant returns to the reservoir.

Ok thanks.
Im about to do coolant drain and fill, so when im ready to refill with new stuff, I just pour it right into the rad cap? How do I tell when its max line? Will it show on the res?

You fill them separately. The radiator is to be filled to the bottom of the filler neck.
The reservoir is to be filled to between the minimum and maximum lines on it.
Make sure you thoroughly burp the system when you're done.
Check your local auto parts stores for one of these: http://www.tooltopia.com/lisle-24610.aspx
They help tremendously.

1) When you say fill rad to the bottom of the filler neck, im guessing this is by looking down into the rad fill hole? Sorry dumb question, ive never done this so just want to make sure first.
The res i have no problems refilling as ive done before but the rad ive never have.
Yes im aware burping when im done and have the car on a ramp, not flat.
Im guessing that funnel is so i dont spill? I was just going to use my funnel for oil changes. Smaller i know but ill pour slow.
