Default Sandblasting Anodized rims...

When i got my car it had rattle canned black Track R's on it when i got my tires put on the guy fucked the paint up (looked shitty anyways) I was wondering how bad it would look if I just went and got them sandblasted they are the track r's with purple anodized lip.

Not supposed to sandblast aluminum wheels..weakens the metal.
Use paint stripper and repaint or powdercoat... and polish the lip

By the same token wouldn't powdercoating weaken them as well?

No. Media blasting forces material into the pores of the metal, expanding them, and weakening the bond within. If you chemically strip the wheel, it'll be fine after powder coating.

technically powder coating wheels multiple times will weaken them as well. Especially depending on the type of aluminum in question. Heating the metal multiple times will work harden it, and cause it to become more brittle
