b18a1 won't start and I've tried everything
Hi all so first let me tell you what is in my car.
B18a1
Bored out to 81.75mm ( a pain in the *** to find)
High compression (type r) pistons
I-E-H
Adjustable cams
no a/c, or p/s
all stuffed in a 91 civic hatchback
So now let me tell you what all happened. So I ran the engine too lean and got horrible detonation. And that melted the piston right between the first and second ring on the side. Then once I changed pistons out and got it all back together it wouldn't start and was leaking oil out the front of the engine. So I tore it back down to the head gasket and found that I put it on upside down. So flipped that back around and installed it on the right way. Now when I still try and start the engine it still wont turn over. When I check the ecu codes, nothing comes up. When I check to see if I have a spark, there is a strong spark and the cylinder smells like gas and the plug is covered in gas. So I thought timing was the issue so I put it on a timing light and it is still in time. Then I thought it was a vacuum leak so I changed out the pcv valve. Still nothing but now when I unplug the injector clips and start it up it runs at 3000 rpm then slowly dies. Once I plug in the clips and reset the ecu it doesn't want to start at all. What could be the problem because I'm about to just give up and send it to a mechanic and hope for the best.

the valve lash that I set is .006 on the intake and .008 on exhaust and I'll check the compression in about an hour. But would that explain why it runs when I unplug the fuel injectors and it runs?
have you tried cleaning the injectors?maybe theyre clogged and dripping fuel instead of misting it in?
Just tried to clean them and one came out that it was dripping the fuel but how do you clean them fully because I can't get anything more than a couple drips out of it and I have a hose attached to the receiving end that has a can of carb cleaner running through it and a 9 volt battery powering the injector and can only get a drip out of it.

ok so just an update. I got a new fuel injector to replace the clogged one and it started and ran but horribly then would shut off when idling. And now it won't start again.
Should always change all injectors at same time to eliminate that part of system as a problem
Usually I would have but when I tested and cleaned the injectors I got a good mist from all the others. But I do have air and I do have compression and I have spark and lots of fuel. Oh and when I try and crank my car a couple of times the fuel air ratio gauge that I have goes straight to 10.0 afr.
MAP,TPS,ECT,IAT, O2S all send signals to ecu for fuel control any of these could be one or more reasons why. Most efi systems go to rich condition if sensor reading become incorrect, vehicle designers don't want a car to put holes in pistons.
Yeah the plug order is correct. But the ecu isn't throwing any codes. And I figured they were running rich because when I pull the injector clips off it runs at 3000 rpm for about 5 seconds and my afr is at 10.0 the lowest number that can show up on the gauge.
OK just a little update on the car so far. I finally got it to start but when it finally did it was sputtering ( it sounds like its running on 3 cylinders) until I get up to 4000 rpms and its dumping white smoke out the muffler.
