Default Brake Pads

Without changing calipers or discs what are recommended aftermarket brake pads to be used in a CRX? Most likely I'll be changing my lines as well to Goodridge SS, but wondering about the pads (just the front... don't really care about rear drum)

Choices, choices-my answer is AEM/Nissin and Performance Friction. The AEM pads work great for me on all 3 cars. The PF pads for the CRX when used with Brembo blanks are also a great choice in a competition environment. It is also a matter of what is available from more than one source at a fair price (meaning they won't be cheap). Then again stock Honda pads are nearly as expensive-so find a quality product and you will be fine.

EBC is crap. Nissin is a good rotor friendly, losng lasting pad. But if you want more performance, go with the PF or Hawk pads.

For all out performance, Hawk HP+ gets my vote for street/autox. Be aware that they dust a lot, the dust is somewhate corrosive and they tend to squeal when cold and they eat the rotors at a slightly higher rate than other pads. But man, do they stop the car!

Ive tried the AEMs, they work fine for daily driving but will take a major dump on you on the track.

EBC

Right now im going to be using axxis ultimates f/r on the street and track, they are a great dual purpose pad and are only 112 bucks for the set of 4 wheels shipped from carbotech.

If youre looking for a track pad, Carbotech Panther and Panther + are the way to go, ultimate bite, almost no fade and will be able to pretty much take whatever you can throw at them.

check out http://www.carbotech.com , also check out the road race forum, there are alot of good search topics there.

yow, what's with the bad press on the EBC pads? I'd like to hear more from
anybody who has first hand experience with them, before I slap mine in.
The euro. car mags certainly seem to like them....

I've heard nothing but positive remarks for EBC greenstuff pads - from people who actually used them!

Word is they wear out fast, but they stop like nothing else. Apparently they aren't too expensive either.

I've used them. They wear out fast, the aren't rotor friendly, they are quick to fade, and they don't have the initial bite that I enjoy from my Hawk HP+s.

regarding the EBC pads, I was a little put off by the 300 mile "break-in" period suggested
in the instructions. Apparently you're not supposed to hammer on them until they are bed-in;
sounds like a pain in the *** to me!

fyi, you should do that with all brake pads...

on a new pad install i go on the highway and do light "stops" from 70mph to 55mph with a 1 mile interval inbetween stops. i do this about 10 times (about a 15 min. ride).
