Is this "Good" Motor shot? See video
Bought this D16A6 today supposedly it had 110k miles and had no leaks taps knocks or oil consumption. This is what it sounded like when I barred it over by hand. The motor has not run in a month, and i did not put any oil in the cylinder, do you all think this noise could just be from dry cylinder walls or do you think this motor is shot? vid link below. thanks for advice...gotta get this sorted out before the seller skips out on me..
take spark plugs out put 1/8 quart in each cylinder turn it over a couple time by hand. if you know it ran fine and its only been sitting a month your fine. it doesnt sound great to me though. listening to a motor being turned over by hand doesnt really tell you much. how does it feel? is it binding at all or doing anything funny
No, its not really binding at all...It feels pretty smooth...I just dont like that grinding noise and Im sorry about the rachet, snap on guy doesnt come to replace my breaker bar until thursday

i cant really make note of much noise. the best thing for you to do is at least drop the oil pan and look at the rods/ pistons. and check for metal contaminates in the bottom of the pan. there is no proving anything by listening to a motor being turned over by hand
So there could still be hope that this is a healthy motor ?
anyone else have an opinion...at this point Im still in contact with the seller, and before he decides to start ignoring me and skipping out I wanna find out where I stand here..I would just put the motor in my car and see how it runs but unfortunately I have a busy next month with work and I don't have the time to do so, I bought it because the engine in my car has about 300k miles and is starting to burn a lot of oil so I bought this for a future install but from the sound of turning it over it sounds even less healthy..
