Changed cap and rotor, wireset as well. checked ignition coil and all is within spec.
Car is running on 3 cylinders.
Checked resistance on all the injectors and the check out at 11.8 ohms at all 4.
12.2 Volts is read at each connector.
Swapped spark plugs from cylinders 2 to cylinder 3. Still number three is not firing when i pull the injector clip.
havent checked the codes but i figure its cylinder misfire on 3.
car is a 97 integra ls.

Compression test all cylinders as well as a leakdown test on cylinder 3.

 

Always check codes.

Next step is to check the plug wire. Then the injector. Ohm reading on an injector only tells you the coil is still intact, not that it is actually opening.

If all that checks out, then compression test and if that shows a problem, do a leak down test to try to zero in on the problem.

Ohm reading of an injector tests for resistance in coil too much and it won't open correctly or at all. Ohm check wire should be 10,000 omhs for one foot of wire not sure what the actual spec is so this is a general spec.

 

Have you checked to see if the problem is no spark or no fuel?

Simple test, start engine let it run for a bit, turn engine off and immediately pull spark plug #3 and inspect the end of the plug, is it "wet" with gas, does it smell of gas?

Check for spark, DO NOT pull a spark plug lead to test for spark, it can/may damage the coil.
At the very least plug a known working spark plug into the lead and ground it properly and then start the engine and check the spark, or...

Use a proper spark/ignition tester, like the HEI spark tester, they can be had for $10-$15...


A very good tool to have if you work on your car yourself.

Test the injector, swap injector #3 with one of the others, is the misfire still on #3 or has it moved to the swapped cylinder?

If you have spark and you have fuel it only leaves compression as the problem.

Now it is time for the compression and leak-down tests.

It doesn't matter the order you test ignition fuel compression just as long as its done correctly but for all the ocd techs I guess it matters

 

Not saying it matters, but my guess is, [I may be wrong] the OP does not have a compression tester or the equipment for a leak-down test, so why not go in the "order" that you can without having to buy/rent equipment that may or may not be needed.

Be a wast of money to get equipment like a compression tester or leak-down test equipment only to find out the only problem was an injector is bad.

That's not being OCD, that's just being smart, do the simple, least time consuming, least costly things first. 94

 

And in your post it says compression test/leakdown test so what's your point he needs to buy one,rent one, or borrow one or take it to a shop and get the job done.

 

Can you not read?

The POINT is to do the simple tests that you have the tools for first, there is no POINT in buying/renting/borrowing any tools/equipment only to find out you have a bad injector.

Your suggestion to the OP was to do a compression test on all cylinders and a leak-down on #3.

I suggested he check for spark and fuel first, the things he most likely has the tools for already and you got your panties in a knot and had to post that it makes no differance what you do first, again I say yes it does, for above stated reason. nuf said. 94
