My Civic vs my Integra. (not a race)
I'm a bit confused. My 91 civic dx hatch has soft suspension bushings, riding on snow tires that are too tall, and yet it gets around an exit ramp by my house 10 mph faster than this 94 ls I picked up that's in beautiful shape underneath with proper size all seasons. Am I just spoiled by the go cart handling of my hatch? Or should I be Trying to find something wrong? Suspension is tight, bushings good, shocks are good, no clunks or play in steering. I just don't get it. Am I expecting too much from this car?
maybe your not pushing it hard enough. could be the tires? change them both out to the same tires and tread life and see what happens.
maybe the size of the integra holds you back a bit because your afraid that the bigger car will hit or spin out.
also your civic is a lot lighter so the wheels have less weight on them in the turn

kumho on all 4 corners. 195 55 15. civic has firestone winterforce 185 65 14. the civic is 2180. the teg is 2600. Its crazy. i can get 55 mph on the exit ramp before the civic lets me know im about to die. the integra 45 and im actually plowing the front end a bit. its not something i do much but i was just curious.
i think its the other way around. the guys beating the hell out of gas sipping eco single jingles try and prove they're faster, while integra owners dont have to prove anything and just look better while cruising away.

I want him to try and convince me a car worth as much as my Xbox is a better car than an integra.
my crx walks away from any integra that steps up in the corners im pretty sure its the wheelbase maybe but my motors pretty stock im dumped on cheap coilovers with tokico shocks buddy club p1 lcas rebuilt suspension stock sway bars 15" jmags on kumho ast 195 50 15 tires. still havent found someone that pulls on me in the corners
I shouldn't have started this thread. I knew it would end up sounding stupid. Basically my civic is old and hurting and it still outhandles a great shape all around integra I have. Yes the teg is faster, more comfortable, and has more creature comforts, and I love it. I just think it should handle at least the same as a ratty old car that it is considered an upgrade from and made by the same company...

You didn't read that correctly. Try it again. The civic is ratty. The integra is very clean. The civic has shot suspension bushings, well worn snow tires that are too tall, and it outhandles my integra.
i think it is all in the preferance of handling.you think the hatchback handles better, but maybe that's just the way you feel about it..
there are too many factors in determining which(for a fact) is better.
stock vs stock,
some will say the hatchback has a larger wheelbase(and less weight) than a dc integra, but who determines which handles better?handling is a feeling, not everyone feels the same way.
others will say that the slightly heavier dc will handle better, because it is pulling harder to the ground,so to speak.power to weight ratio etc..
the point is,they are not the same car,and there are too many factors to consider.the power to weight ratio is different for both cars, weight is different, wheelbase, stock height, power steering(if you have it,it could be harder working on another vehicle etc etc..)wheels,tires,etc.
also,i noticed you put that one shock was blown on the hatch.wouldnt this,in turn, make you sink in even more, making it appear as though you can take the turn better, when in fact it is a lucky mishap of a damaged part?i know my integra has a blown shock in the front right, and it makes me take right turns very easily, but pulls a little when i take a left..
modified vs modified,
there are way too many factors, and way too many options into changing anything,so where one has pros,it also has cons..but all can be changed.

fair enough. i know the shocks arent blown in the civic. I just checked. lol. my handling comparison is only as far as how fast i can get both cars around the exact same exit ramp.
Theres only a 4-500 pound weight difference. as for the cars handling differently, they have suspension parts people interchange between these cars.(lets not get into which pieces actually are the right length and work properly) bottom line is they are very similarly designed and should handle very similarly to an extent. we're not comparing a volvo 740 to a peugot 505 here....

wow, surprised the thread hasn't been locked yet with all the banter.
only thing i can think of is the shorter wheel base. your civic would rotate a little better.
