Default how do you remove old dried honda bond?

what techniques are there to remove honda bond in the crevice in the head cover gasket area. honda bond was used to help seal the cover and the head cover gasket. a new head cover gasket is now being installed but how do i remove all the old honda bond thats in the crevice that the gasket is supposed to sit in. honda bond is used all around the area so it means there is a lot of work.

is there some sort of technique or chemical that would be able to just melt the honda bond away. the cover has no paint so i dont care if there are harsh chemicals used. all the gakets are being replaced too.

i was thinking of using paint thinner. im not sure if its strong enough tho.

any advice?

If you're talking about the valve cover area itself I would use a screw driver thin enough to fit in there and just scrape it out. Brake cleaner after getting it all out will help ensure no oil is in there. which will prevent a good seal after reinstall. If you're talking about the head I would use a razor blade, just don't use the corner, you don't want to scratch it, use the long end.

im not talking about the head itself. its the cover only. where the area where we mount the plastic gasket into the cover. all that has honda bond in it.

i tried using the screw driver. its taking forever and i dont think im able to get everything. would there be anything else faster?

i throw it in the parts washer, varsol tends to soften it up, enough to where i can take a wire brush to remove all traces of it. Then continue cleaning it out.

As for the corners of the cam caps(the only place there should be any honda bond) i get what i can with a pocket screw driver or razor blade, then take a scotchbrite pad + brakeclean to the corners, and rest of the sealing surface. Careful not to drop chunks of scotchbrite inside, if you do, retrieve it. The wipe it down with brake clean before putting it back together.

Honda bond is amazing! It's a good thing it is so hard to dig out, remove, scrape off.

update, the paint stripper isnt even strong enough to remove honda bond. it did make it a little softer but it doesnt desolve it at all.
