ENGINE TALK. what are the advantages or a H22A engine over f22?
I currently have a F22 engine in my 1995 prelude.
Everyone is saying to get a H22A... sounds nice but for $2400 is it worth it?
what are the advantages of a H22A over my F22? besides the horse power?
thanks guys I appreciate it.

HP and torque
DOHC rather than SOHC
VTEC rather than no vtec....stronger internals...
bigger aftermarket for parts/mods

difference is night and day.
i used to have an accord and swapped in an h22a. not only the motor, but the gearing on the h22a is worth it just alone over the f22 tranny.

I drove an accord before i got my lude, and yes the lude tranny is definitely nicer, but I just miss being able to cruise at 90 at less than 4k rpm. When i'm goin 85 in my 93 vtec its almost hitting 5000 rpms, and for the 4 hr trip to school and back, it cant be good on gas milage and the engine.
Is it possible to put an F22 Tranny on an H22? I also have a 93 Vtec and have been wondering if this is possible becasue I heard the gearing is a little taller in the F22.

f22's not Vtec? I always thought they were SOHC Vtec (would explain something of that displacement making ony 145hp). Of course, that was me just making an assumption.
the search would be the best answer to all of your questions unless you can't find it there.. this topic was already discussed a few times..
H22A = 0wnz J00
F22A = 0wnz P00
I had the F22A in my car and I'm SOOOO glad I swapped, it's like a night and day difference! If you got your car cheap enough, it's worth it but is a lot of cases you are better off selling your S and picking up a si-VTEC/SRV model.

it is worth it just to be able to say "i have VTEC"
when you dirve it, and you feel it kick in for the first time you will know it was worth the $$
the test drive sold me when i felt it kickin, i had never been in a car with VTEC, much less driven one.

Remember that the prelude s also has a crappier suspension and brakes, so unless you were planning to upgrade those as well, just buy the whole car.
Actually the S has the exact same suspension, it's all the same stuff. you're right about the brakes sucking on the S tho!

Maybe you're thinking of the F22b which is sohc vtec in accords
would the f22 tranny be able to support the h22 motor??? like would it be strong enough to hold up???
actually the f22 tranny won't work on the H22..... from what I know. Someone back me up on this.
you = wrong.
I have an H23a1 Transmission on my F22b2. The only difference between the two was the gearing and the lude has the speed sensitive power steering unit attached to the VSS, but you can easily bypass this.

What about turboing the f22a anyone done it yet?
