Hey guys, I recently picked up a stock 01 gsr a few weeks ago and has been mechanically sound up until today. The car starts to make a rattle like noise whenever i rev up to 5-6k rpms moving and standing still. It starts to go away quickly as I rev up higher. I'm assuming it started after I washed my car and put some air into my tires when I got home from school because on the way to school earlier this afternoon, it didn't make that noise at all.

 

you have to pinpoint where its coming from first.
the sounds could be anything.

 

Seems like its coming around the middle or the passenger side within the engine bay.

 

Have you tried to see/hear exactly where the noise is coming from?

It could be as simple as a valve lash adjustment, [valve adjustment] that is needed.

Or even simpler, a loose heat shield, there are a few of them, starting with the exhaust manifold heat shield(s), #5&#6...

i was just about to say check your exhaust piping and headshield. lol

 

Alright, I'll see if I can check it out tomorrow because I didn't have a chance to look at it closely. Thanks for the input guys, I'll post my findings tomorrow or something.
