What do you think of the 2013 Accord?
I like it. Especially the exterior. I wish I could buy one. I don't know if I'd like the CVT transmission though. I've never driven a car with a CVT.
I love it. Next October I'll be buying a leftover 13 Sport, or possibly a 14 if they add XM radio to the Sport. Depending on how much cash I have at that point I may just get the 2dr 6-6. Either way it will only be with the MT. Sport is $23k for a decently equipped car. They look great as well.
The CVT is programmed to act like a traditional AT, so most people will not notice. Because the Accord is not a sports car, it don't matter to me, and I would not shy away from (Honda's) CVT. Or even the new gen CVTs like the current Nissan Altima.
With that said, IMO, the Accord has taken a step backwards in terms of styling because it looks too much a two Hyundai, old Sonata and Genesis. It's no way bad looking, but I like the Accord to be more original in their own design path - whatever that would be.
Like BLK said above, the 9th Gen does not make me want to trade in my 8th Gen.

Oh, I like the looks of the 2013. It's just that there's nothing wrong with my 03. I don't buy cars, just to have something new. Maybe in a couple more years, if I feel like the 03 is becoming less reliable, but I just did the timing belt, valve adjustments etc. a year ago, and she's running great right now. I put a lot of work into keeping this car running like it is, and don't like the idea of someone else reaping the benefits from it. I have a habit of over-maintaining my cars, so I'd feel like it was all waisted if I sold it now.
i am considering a 2013 accord as well. how are the 8th gens holding up after ~75k miles? is there considerably more road noise from when it was new?
I can't comment on 75K. I got 36K on my 2010 V6. The only "noise" that I noticed getting louder is the "G35/350Z growl." Not anything to get the fanboys excited, but just a bit more sound. So maybe the muffler cans are loosening up.
I am more a fan of the 03-07 styling. I love my '04, and this "redesign" just doesn't do it for me, as far as the exterior is concerned. I was also really hoping for a sedan 6MT. With a family coming into the picture soon, I need a sedan, but I don't want to give up my 6MT.
Personally I like, but not love the sedan. The rear tail lights are a bit over sized imo and they went overboard again with the chrome fixtures. Still relatively minor issues. Would likely get one in the future. People don't seem to like the coupe though , but I think it looks better than the 8th gen. The 8th coupe to me had awkward proportions in the rear. Only downside of the new coupe is the front but I think from all other angles its a plus.
First off, I am thrilled to be back in a Honda after a long departure.
I looked at both the 2012 and 2013. Both are extremely nice cars. Ended up getting the 2012 Coupe EX-L. Mainly because of the deal I was able to work on a remaining 2012 EX-L.
The 2013 are nice. But they favor the Avalon a bit (not a bad thing and not really a great thing either). What I always liked about the Accord Coupes was the original design that went into them. The new one seems a little unoriginal and uninspired. Kind of like Honda wanted to play it safe with the crazy market we live in today.
I will say this about the 2013, the interior of the EX-L's are awesome. Anything less than that becomes very bland.

We can call 8th Gen - All new. The 9th Gen is more of a rework of the 8th Gen. We can also say cost-cutting. Less they have to pen and design, the less cost they saved.
Same sandwich except one has Mayo and the other has Miracle Whip. They're essentially the same car and I got a 5k discount on the 2012. No brainer.
I've definitely been falling in love with this Accord. I'm debating about trading in my 04 volvo v70 for this car. The volvo is lovely to drive since it's super comfy but it's an absolute gas hog.
My only question is, is there a reason to pick the Sport over an EX? It seems like they are the same price with only cosmetic differences (decklid + dual exhaust). The EX also the Moonroof, LaneWatch & Smart Entry (?)

The styling of 9th gen is more similar to that of the 8th than when comparing of 7th to 8th or 6th to 7th, etc., but it is certainly not 'essentially' the same car, sorry. You can argue such for the MMC, but not for a new generation with many new offerings. I liked the styling of the 8th gen, and I'm glad that Honda decided to improve on it instead of completely scrapping it.
Simply put, I think Honda is taking steps in the right direction.
