Default Do it myself? How hard can it be...

Alright, i have gotten a quote from a local dealer who says that the h22a will be a lot more expensive to swap than the b16a. I know its a little more difficult swap, but I didn't think it would be that bad... he's quoting me (in canadian currency ) 3700 for the b16a engine, and 4500 for the h22a, but hasn't given me exact numbers for the labor. Now for the extra 800 bucks, i am inclined to get the h22a and work on it with some of my friends, but i am somewhat of a newB sooooo, really i dont know... any suggestions?

h22a in a civic is not an easy swap. it does not drop right in. youll need a mount kit and some other miscellaneous parts, that im not sure of. check on this board for some h22 info, theres a **** load. basically, your not going to do it right without experienced help, my suggestion make some new friends that have done swaps and let them teach you. dont pay a shop to put it in, you never know how they may chop it in there.

Do the swap yourself. Where is the fun in letting someone else do it?
I am sure newman would be willing to offer tech support and he sells the mounts you will need too.

wellll, lets see... 3700 canadian would be... 2300 american. sounds about right. and its a 2nd gen... but seriously, if i could just get the b16, plus the parts i need for it, it'll prolly be around 4000. so maybe i should save the extra 800 bucks.. gah i dont know.

pretty good..only hard part is the wiring.

I'm not worrying about that though...get a pro to do the harness at a great price
