Default 5th gen drag car?

So i was wondering why everyone is so against drag racing the 5th gen? I know it's heavy but other than that what's wrong with it? Most people say its better for auto x. I've been wanting to by a eg or something lighter and building it for the strip but then just figured I already have a 5th gen so I might as well build that for the track

would never build a lude exclusively for drag racing. its decently fast as is, but hard on the wallet to make it even faster. you might as well focus on its handling and take it auto crossing.

You could make it a bit faster without FI and drag it too but dont expect anything below mid to high 13's without spending big $$$.

all depends on your budget.

It's too heavy of a platform to make it worthwhile. Why start with something that is 3,000 lbs when you can drop the same engine into one that is 500 lbs lighter? In stock trim they have problems with wheel hop too.

You can build it for drag racing.

There are few how have done it.
You just need to lay out your plans to do weight reduction and better traction and build that H22.

I will let them chime in.

Why wouldn't the weight be a factor in autox?

This!^ Like I hate how people neglect the ludes for drag racing. And what your saying is a 2500 pound car would be okay? I have my 4th gen lude down to 2550 with just minor stuff taken out (backseats, trunk, rear bumper support, passenger seat removed, sound deadening) like I hate how people steer people away from drag racing. Lol do what you want, I did. First they told me my car was too heavy, then they said a sohc motor will never make that power. It's all fueled what's gone into my build and I hope to prove my point come next spring. If not at least I'm having fun in a car I love to drive. So IMO to the OP do what you wanna do bro.

ESP traction bar will help that wheel hop. Build it right for drag and it will be worthwhile no matter the chassis really.
