Default Needing a little Xtra edge

I am a dirt track race car driver with a 12 year old daughter that also wants to race. Our local track has a 12 to 15 year old class. this class is restricted to use FWD 4 cylinder non Vtec motors. The rules allow very little upgrades, but as in all dirt track racing, if your not cheating your not winning.

I have done a bit of research and after driving my $600 accord I am quite pleased with my purchase. What a fun car, I am likely to pick up some tickets over the next couple of months while I use this car as my daily driver through out the winter.

So I am open to any invisible improvements that may give us an edge. I have no experriance with Hondas and am hoping someone would share some knowledge with me.

I think I can get away with improveing air intake, I can open exhaust pipe size, and get ride of cat.

Now they would not know if I changed the cam. I question the pay back with every thing else stock?

Is there a hiden chip improvement avalible?

Better yet, what would you do?

Thank You for any Information,
BA

i would make sure to have the manifolds (intake and exhaust) from the f22a6 engine found in the 92-93 ex and se models, get a cam ground by colt cams (a tri flow), change the ecu to a p06 from a 92-95 1.5 liter civic lx/dx and get it chipped and tuned, if the money is there get the head ported, and either mill the head or get some higher compression pistons.

with a 96 you would grab the 92-93 head and manifolds, and swap it on, get an obd2-1 jumper harness OR splice on the earlier plugs to run the earlier ecu.
