6 x 9 Speaker Adapters/Spacers Civic 2002 EX Coupe
I bought a pair of 6 x 9 Speaker adapter/spacer that's 3/4 inch. I've read plenty of threads about people encountering the trunk springs/torsion but they've only refer to installing trunk shocks in order to create space for speakers w/ larger magnets.
I have a pair of Kicker DS693 6"x9" 3-Way Speakers that won't fit the back deck due to the trunk springs/torsion.
My question is has anybody used the spacers before to avoid the trunk springs successfully. FYI: my adapters came in so I'm going to try this out and see if it works. I'll post how it went after tomorrow when I try to install em.

I had some homemade MDF 1/2" spacers that I used for my old Alpine 6x9's. I didn't really need them, but used them anyway. I have since then blown the speakers and haven't gotten anything new, so I installed some MTX XT693's which I had laying around, and without the spacers and the magnet just barely contacts the trunk springs.
It all breaks down to mounting depth and the size of the magnet. The mounting depth on your speakers is slightly larger than that of the speakers I'm currently using. Your adapters should work fine, but they might actually cause the speaker to sit so high that you can't put the rear deck cover back on due to contact with the mid and tweeter. This is pure speculation, though.

The Update: The adapters I bought for the 6 x 9 (which is universal) does not fit to the Civic rear deck. The mounting deck will not go on if you install it. It would have done the job keeping the Kicker DS693 6"x9" speakers off of the Trunk Springs but the deck will not go on. I had to go the ghetto way and just install the speakers without em (the speakers are screwed in w/ weird angles given that the speakers don't fit due to the large magnets). My trunk still opens and close but you can tell they touch the magnets when I close it.
The Adapters I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/1608747174...E:L:OU:US:3160
Just re-addressing that they won't work for Civics 01-03. The Width is too wide for the mounting deck to fit.
I've yet to try the front adapters: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/2907780343...E:L:OU:US:3160
Will try to install these guys this weekend. I'll post updates.
