95 Civic shakes, lights flicker, battery light turns on when braking

I have a '95 civic and the thing is acting up. Everytime I brake my car shakes and the lights flicker like crazy and my battery light on the dash keeps flashing. But it's only when my cars in drive . What could be the problem?

Sounds like your idle is too low.
