Friend brought this car to me to figure out the occasional no crank. It has a recently new starter/solanoid, connections have been cleaned and tightened, great battery charge ... but it is only intermitently cranking. When it does crank it fires write up. When it doesn't crank I hear a "boing" under the dash left of steering wheel, and then a click at the starter. If I keep trying to crank sometimes it will catch and fire up.

Got in the car tonite and fired right up. I turned it off and the intermittent no crank continued.

Noticed the car has had ignition replaced at some point, both ends. Also, "key in ignition" chime chimes without a key in ignition - wierd.

Tried moving the key around - no joy. Tried moving the gear selector in neutral and back to Park - no joy.

Any ideas would be great.
