Yeah I would check your timing belt and see if it is broken. Did this problem just all of a sudden start or what?

If the timing belt is broken you would hear it flapping around.
It might of jumped a tooth....but broken you would hear it.

if your timing belt broke you wont have spark..... belt turns cam.....cam turns distributor their for no spark so if you get spark and fuel then maybe your timing did juimp check to see if your timing marks are right..

To check timing just put it at top dead center (line up the timing mark on the crank and lower timing cover) your cam marks should be dead on if your crank marks are. If not you've jumped timing (or sheared the keyway which is very unlikely).

it would run differently from prior of it skipping....pull the cover, set to top dead center and check it. Only takes 10 mins to check it

you try jumping it?
if your sure you got spark and fuel....id check your battery. clean the terminals. check your grounds, make sure the battery has enough juice to fire the car.

Have you checked your CEL for ECU trouble codes?

The CEL comes on when there is a problem from one of the sensors. If your not getting spark read a sticky about how to narrow it down.

You said the car has spark, gas, and the engine turns over right? If your timing is on point then you should check for trouble codes. I know that there are two sensors in the distributor that can possibly cause the car to shut off and not start again. I believe they are the CKP and CYP sensors. Look for codes 4,8, and/or 9. It happened to mine. I got a new OEM dizzy housing from Honda, swapped in my Coil and ICM. Problem was solved. Hope this helps.

One thread per topic is the rule. Related threads merged.

Please browse through the FAQs sticky. You'll find a lot of useful information, such as how to check the mechanical timing:

Once again if you have no spark, then look at the sticky about how to check your spark. If your injectors are firing then it is most likely the coil. Research and reply when you've narrowed down the problem.
