Default 99-00 civic ex auto "over heating" help?

i have a 99-00 civic ex automatic..... it just recently started over heating after i changed the oil.... the car drove fine for 30 minutes of driving it and then the needle started to jump to HOTT!

so i turned on my heater to full blast to see if it would go down... and it did so....

what could be my problem guys?

i looked at all the hoses and noticed there werent any warped areas or anything busted.... also checked the coolant level it was low so i poured more coolant in.... i notice that im pouring coolant in everyday... hmmm

still over heats.... need help... any suggestions on where to start.... thanks honda-tech!

how much coolant are you adding daily?

if you're losing coolant, its going somewhere into the atompshere, into the oil, into the cylinder..

perform a leak down test

had the same issue with a 94, added water daily for a couple months. By the end i couldnt travel more than 10 miles without adding coolant. Did the head gasket, problem solved.

so i checked to see if the cooling fan came on at all during the over heating process and notice that it didnt come on at all....

so i pulled the fan off to test it manually... by bypass... and it worked fine.... so im guessing its the fan relay....

ill keep you guys posted.... smh

I had a similar problem.... fan stopped working, car got hot.....diag'ed it, mine turned out to be air in the coolant system. Bled the system and fan started working again, and it stopped overheating.

Jump the connecter and see if the fan turns on. If it does...Id bleed your system.

would that really make the fan comeon?..... my fan comes on when i bypass it... but doesnt come on when the car is running?.... all of the relays and circuits are getting power....

so your saying to bleed the system?

Switch not relay. But you need to find out where the leak is first.
