Default Turbo ef filter fitment

So im trying to figure out my best route with a air filter for my turbo b16 ef.As of right now im just running a 6in standard filter but its tight in space because its where my coolant resivor use to be,and its also hitting my hid. the only thing i can do is hang a longer filter or same size down the hole putting the intake filter in my wheel well.

but will i have issues with sucking in water?
and how would it be if i routed it in the well, and positioned it as high up as possible?

pic
(this isnt the filter im running the one i have hits everything and it a k&n)
just showing pic for location

lmk whatcha think i should do

fresh air to the turbo does make more power BUT honestly i wouldn't worry about it.
I'd get a better manifold for more power

not really trying to get more power just trying to see if its to risky to put the filter in the wheel well to get it away from hitting my hid

It's baffling me as to why you don't get a smaller filter instead of that huge one.

ditto. k&n make a lot of different sized filters and it took me almost no time to find the exact size and shape I needed. it looks like if you get a smaller filter you should have no problem mounting it to the turbo or making it fit w/o having to route it all over the place.

can you mount your HID else where?
I've seen guys mount them on the underside of the chassie, it would be fine as long as you do run splash sheild.

from what I read, real HKS filter is hard to come by and the fake ones are a hit or miss

most of the hks foam filters (real or fake) all eventually break down and turn into compressor wheel cannon fodder...

For what it's worth, we have this filter on clearance:

It's hitting hid bulb, if I mount it right off the turbo it will be just as low as the wheel well, and there isn't as much room as it looks had to squeeze the filter in which is kinda crushing it

Really? Please provide the data you base that claim off of. Otherwise you're just guessing.

Get the smaller filter. I HIGHLY doubt you're at any kind of power level that would cause any filter to be a restriction.

Using to small of a filter could cause a inlet restriction which would lead to excessive exhaust temperatures leading to turbine housing cracking and scaling or even turbine wheel failures.

What would be an ideal size that wouldnt cause a restriction? Making 330whp 230tq

Just the fake ones.. Not the real ones. I've used the real ones for years.. Never a problem.

running a "normal" sized k&n filter won't be am issue...... esp. at 330hp

the restriction is only a few inches of vacuum, not enough to matter

Smaller than what you have. Get rid of that Spectre/Ebay filter.

You're getting on my nerves with this topic.
