Viper 5900, remote start won't work unless the parking lights are on. :/
Hi all
I'm in the process of this very tedious install... Viper 5900
I got it to start via the remote. Sometimes it cranks for the full programmed time, most other times it doesn't. The parking lights flash during crank. If it cranks during a flash, it starts. If not, it cuts out as if a ground is missing or loose. I made sure my engine grounds are good, and the alarm is grounded well too.
The alarm is fully functional. The hatch, doors, and hood all trigger as well as my additional sensors, battery disconnect trigger, and ignition trigger. Both sirens are functioning. Solder and heat-shrunk all connections
If I put my parking lights on and attempt to start it, it will crank and start effortlessly. (fixed, learn tach signal)
I retained the clutch safety switch and connected the gear indicator selector safety switch wire to the e-brake for safety.
Coming from the relay... Green and purple interrupt the starter wire, pink is ignition, red is hooked up to white/blk in 5 pin harness attached to ignition harness.
Orange seems to be wrong, as my climate control doesn't come on...
Thanks for looking..

I have disconnected the parking light flash output. It seems the parking light flash is shorting out the starter? :/
Now my orange wire is hooked up to white/blue in the 5 pin harness attached to ignition harness. That wire directly controls the blower motor when the car is in ignition, but not during crank. I'm happy with that.
Red is hooked up to a black/white in the same 5 pin harness. Constant power.
Everything is functional except the light flash... should I have used a diode on that connection? Are the lights supposed to flash during the command start cycle? Right now, parking light output is spliced directly into my corner light/sidemarker/taillight wire... If I could get the lights to stay on constant during the start cycle, it would work fully.

Park light output should have nothing to do with remote start operation other then to confirm the system has "seen" the remote start command from the remote control, [park lights flash] and then to indicate engine has started, [park lights flash continuously or stay on solid, selectable on most remote starts].
It sounds like you may have something miswired. 94

It appears to have figured itself out. Parking lights flash and they don't interrupt the crank. Now to add more features.
