New ef shell, questions
Hello everyone, I just bought a new '90 EF Si hatch shell. Brand new paint job, a gunmetal gray-ish color, clean title, second owner here. It's got the cleanest interior ever... I'd say probably 9/10 if not a little more.
Anyways.. Just a question about dropping in a b16 into it, i've researched doing the swap and what it requires and such, but I was wondering if it would be more expensive to buy the complete swap with tranny and everything from HMO (only a few minutes away from me) or to buy all the parts seperately and just put it all together myself. To be honest, I'd like to be able to buy all the parts for the engine/trans seperately and put it together myself, get to really know my engine inside and out in the process, but I'm also a poor 22 year old so I need to go the route that is gonna be the nicest to my bank account..
It'll take me 3-4 months to get the money together for the complete swap anyways, so the amount of time getting all the parts together isn't really a problem either. If it ends up being a difference of only a couple hundred dollars, I would go with buying the pieces seperately.
I also have no experience putting together an engine, but I'm confident enough in my ability to do so by following guides/reading through the helms manual. I've also got a bunch of friends that can help me out.
... long first post, but thanks to anyone who reads this!
