tweeters in side vents? Del Sol
I am wanting to install component speakers with the tweets in the side air vents. I have done a bunch of searching but couldn't find how people made this work and look good. Anybody know? THNX
Pop the vent out. Trace the vent onto a piece of wood. Cut the piece out of the wood and shape accordingly. If you are trying to make it look like the rest of the dash plasti-dip the wood piece. Trace the tweeter onto the wood. Cut out hole for tweeter. Install tweeter. Now, to get it to stay in there you're probably gonna have to install some small pins on the side to act as tabs.
Ohhhh, its called CUSTOM WORK, awesome! That helps a ton!!! Thanks for being SUPER helpful
This is called SARCASM. - just giving a lil grump back to the grumpiest -
lazlong, I appreciate the quick how-to write up. I thought I would find plenty of info b/c it seems like such a perfect place for the tweet... no cutting into door panels and it seems they are a better/easier position for directing the highs - straight to the face when looking forward. Curious to why this option isn't more popular.?
I am not new to custom work but I am new to understanding audio install. Do you think the a/c or heat will bother the wiring?
thnx for your time

The tweeter of a component system should be mounted as close to the mid as possible, at the very least on the same plane, but then again SQ is in the ear of the beholder, and sometimes there is just no accounting for taste.
This is what I do for some of my customers, I install the mid, wire everything, [including the tweeters, then use double sided tape to place the tweeters in different locations, starting with where the customer wants them, then where I think they should go, I play the customers music, 90+% of the time the location the customer wants them is not where they end up. 94
