Need help, ran out of gas and now won't start!
I was coming home from school today and I ran out of gas. I just figured the low fuel light didn't work, so I didn't think much of it. I put some gas in, and tried to start it, and it won't start. It'll crank and ocassionally turn over, but will die. It's a 92 Accord automatic, and if I feather the gas pedal it'll idle horribly but as soon as I quit it dies. I just traded my truck for this car last night, and this is my only vehicle,
any help would be appreciated! I tried moving the throttle from under the hood but it had the same result as when I would pump the pedal. Any suggestions?

Well, if the tank runs dry, then the pump could burn out. If you run into the reserve gas tank then the debris could clog the filter. You could test for fuel and sparks to see which is missing. It could just be coincident that it happens after.
Well i talked to the previous owner and the gas light was supposed to work so i dont think i ran out of gas but I'm going to trailer the car to a shop today and find out the problem.
i guess if youve got the money taking it to the shop is a good idea. now for us mechanically inclined people or folks that wont waste the money for a shop to tell us obvious things trouble shooting is the way. the problem is spark, fuel or timing.........PERIOD. if you hear the pump prime that would be a good sign. next test is to see if the fuel is getting to the injectors. quick way is to just spray a dab of starter fluid in the intake (i know alot of people frown on this). next is spark, pull a plug wire and insert screwdriver into it and hold close to metal while someone cranks it. see spark? diagnosing cars is simple man.
Do a search for "main relay." It's the little relay box that controls the fuel pump. They're pretty notorious for going out, but they're pretty cheap and easy to replace.
