Are 225-50-15 drag radials too big for a stock h22?
I have a 91 civic with a h22a, i was wondering if 225 drag radials would be good for my setup. Im using an exedy stage one organic clutch, is preloading the best way to go with this setup?
The 225's work, but look kinda goofy if you're gonna be driving it on the street with them. I run 205 MT ET streets as my street tires and throw on my slicks at the track. If you plan on only running the 225's at the track.. you should really just look into a set of 23" slicks. Drag radials help a little but got nothing on slicks. You'll be just fine if you preload.
225's look far from goofy bolted to the front of a Honda. 205's drag radials in my opinion are a waste and I would get a full set of Nitto Neo Gen 205-50-15" instead. That way you can rotate tires if need be.
For your setup 225's would work, but me and some friends have had good results with just a set of Nitto Neo Gens. We can run mid 12's on regular old street tires with a stock K20A swapped EG hatch.
Also, the clutch you are using I used one of those years ago on a stock turbo B18C that made around 300whp and it held the power just fine while I had it in there. Don't ask me how, because I was surprised it was holding the power. It never slipped on the street or on the dyno during tuning.
