Default ls eg smoking!

i own an eg hatch with a b18a motor. i had a b20 on it before but it would smoke alot from the exhaust. friends told me it was either valve seals or the piston rings. i decided to buy this b18 i currently have, so i wouldnt deal with rebuilding the other motor. but this one does the samething. does anyone have an idea on wat it could be??
