please help! sluggish b16a, timing?
hey guys i just finished doing a b16a swap into my 91 civic si hatchback. I used a zerg obd0-obd1 jumper harness and repinned the distributor and used the obd1 distributor so it plugs into my obd0 harness. I am running a p30 ecu. As i finished the swap and turned it over for the first time the idle was very very poor, and i ended up (retarding or advancing?) the distributor so its cranked all the way towards the firewall side so the idle would smooth out. So it does idle fine at 750, and 1500 at warm up. But upon driving it, its very sluggish and stuttery until around 4500rpm. And after driving for about a minute, a check engine light appears. From a start, i have to apply a good amount of throttle to get the car to actually start moving (bogging down). So what im wondering is maybe my timing out? when i put a new timing belt on maybe one cam is slightly off timing? when i put the timing belt on i lined up the crank on the line on the bottom and the cams were both pointed upwards but maybe something shifted as i squeezed the belt on? Before i start pulling off the crank pully and covers to check if thats the case do you guys have any other ideas? im very confused as to why i would have to have the distributor cranked so far to one side to actually hold a proper idle.
Thanks for any help
Thanks for any help
When the cel pops up have you gotten the code?
If you are fully advanced on the dizzy, sounds like you are off a tooth. Check the timing belt. Look into some diy timing belt installation guides or vids.

yes im jumping the little blue connector by the passenger side kick panel. Just wondering, was there something for the check engine light that i was supposed to wire in from the jumperharness?
first off a code would definitely help. it sounds like a huge issue but it could be very simple. i can give you a list of things to check if you give me more information. for now id check your timing marks. sounds like you have more than one problem
