94 accord wierd sound in timing cover
I just put a motor in and the block was completely redone all new gaskets and rings plus a new oil pump. It is a f22b2 block and i have my head on it which is the f22 b1 head the car is the ex model originally a f22b1. i have a kind of whining sound i have ran it with all of the acc. belts off of it so thats how i found out it was in the timing cover. i check the timing and balancing belt just about 20 min ago and they fine not too much tension on them. Has anybody ever heard of that noise b4? Does anyone have ne info on it its my mothers car and i need to get it done quick so she can have a car again. thanx
Unrelated question here, but why the b1 head on the b2 block?
Did you remove the oil control orifice in the block?
I have heard a whining noise coming from the cam timing gear area upon startup after timing belt changes before.
Initially, I thought it sounded like a failed bearing or something similar.
Turns out I simply over tightened the belt.
It may be worth taking another look at your belts deflection to ensure that's not the case.

yes i did yank out the oil block i had checked the belts to see if i over tightened them but they had a little wiggle to them like they were normal but i can try to loosen them a lil just for good measure. the reason y i did the head/block combo is bc thats what i had the old vtec block oil pump went out and she blew out the 1st cyl. so had to use my resources.
are you sure the balance tensioner is "on" the pivot and that that the temp bolt was removed.....most of the time this happens when the "pivot" point of the tensioner isn't on correctly....just my shot
