After owning my 04 Silverstone S2k for alittle over 2 years, its finally time for a respray. The paint was actually pretty decent but had quite a few rock chips. Body work was a breeze with only a hand full of dings. Doors had a few waves in them as well as the tops of the fenders.
I have been painting off and on for about 8 years now. My most popular work was on my brothers Midori Green K20 EG. Was a big hit on here years ago and was finally featured in HondaTuning when I owned it.
I have always been a huge fan of PPG paint so thats what I went with on this. Started with NCS2004 sealer then Silverstone DBC base was used followed by DCU2002 clear.
The legend: Will always be missed

Before the teardown.

Will be posting more pics soon. Gotta run outside and finish it up. STAY POSTED!
Removed bumpers, lights, trim and whatever else that was easy to remove.

Sanded the hood with 220 grit on a DA sander as well as the spots where filler was needed. Keep in mind I only had very minor dings.

I then wiped the dings with filler. I used Evercoat Rage and Easy sand. Sands with very little effort and without pinholes.

Hit some roadkill awhile back and cracked my lip. Fixing was very easy. First drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop from spreading. I then V'd out both side of the crack so the filler has something to lay in. Sand both sides with 120 grit. For the back, I used a few pieces of fiberglass. Once dry, wipe the front with filler, sand and prime.

I would usually remove the mirrors but it was such a PITA to remove from the S. Had no problems painting with them on the car.
As far as priming with the wheels, I used wheels bag maskers. No overspray.

Was easy, just hit it with 600 on a foam pad and went to town. Got alittle carried away with the clear this time, 4 coats of clear was used. Already wetsanded and buffed it over the weekend. Couldn't be any happier with the turnout.
looking good . what guns and air compressor/filter setup do you use
ill be painting my car soon. i have a 12cfm compressor 60 gallon.
the clear looks like its coming out pretty flat
