Hey guys I used to have an 05 civic LX 5 speed and and at about 60,000 or so I had bearing noises from the tranny and I know a few other people with the same car who also have bearing noises. From what ive been told this is a common problem with that year tranny. What I want to know is are the 2012-2013 the same trannys ? I plan on buying new civic and was just wanted to see if the problem was fixed or if it's a different transmission all together. This way I dont get a car that is prone to have tranny issues

Entirely different, like 100%. D-series trannys had the bearing issue from 88-05.
I think we've only done 1 bearing job on a 06+ civic because the onwer was a women and never ever changed/checked the fluid so it burned up all the bearings.

 

a lot depends on how you drive also... just throwing that into the mix of things.

 

Ok cool thanks for answering my question ya I figured how people drive plays a large role but i dont beat on my cars. And I'm always getting maintaince on it when it's due. So a 2012 or 2013 should be a safe bet ?

 

anything after 06 should be a safe bet
