Icon6 Passenger Rear Window Stuck Down

Hello all. I've done a quick search of this forum and the closest I could find an answer is this post here: https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...t=window+stuck. However, it doesn't fully explain my issue.

My rear passenger window is stuck in the down position on my 2001 Civic. It successfully rolls (rolled) down with the back or front switch but it will not roll back up. It occurred early this year as well. We took it to a shop and all I could afford at the time was for them to roll the window back up (which they said was a separate deal than fixing it entirely). From there we tried not to roll it down again which worked for months until I inadvertantly left the lock off and my son rolled it down again.

When it happened the first time, I think they said it was the master switch that was the issue and they wanted to charge like $500 to fix it. I figured I could do it myself so I found a junkyard with a master switch, had it delivered and changed it out. Still no luck. All the other windows can successfully roll up and down with both the driver's master switch and the individual door switches.

Can you guys help me pinpoint the issue with the door? I'd love to be able to fix it on my own if I could.

Thanks!

You either need to change the window switch on that door or change the window regulator. The junkyard can provide you with a replacement switch if needed, while if it is the regulator, I would recommend sourcing one brand new. To determine if the switch or regulator is bad, simply take the panel off, disconnect the switch and apply 12 volts and a ground to the wires you just disconnected from the switch. If the regulator is working, the window should roll up. If you hear a hum and no action, chances are you are telling the motor on the regulator to wind the window down. In that case reverse how you have the wires connected, and the window should roll up. If this happens then the switch is bad and should be replaced. If this doesn't work, then you need a new regulator.

Thank you so much. I was able to get the window up last night after 2 months of trying everything else to get it up (and the heat of the summer). Based on what you've said above, it seems like it is the switch.

Again, thank you.
