a guy at a junk yard ordered me new bumpers for my 95 civic ex coupe, the rear bumper fit after some pulling and tugging but the front bumper is not fitting, is there a certain way to put the bumper on? the bottom plastic piece that sticks out a few inches keeps hitting the grill of my car, how do i get it to work?

 

Ill always found that if you line up the parts that slide under the headlights first it usually goes on a lot easier

 

i tried that too, it seams that once that bottom piece gets under it seems too short and theres a lot of tension and i have to kind of stretch it to get it up on the top.

 

was the car in an accident? is the front end straight? i'm assuming these are replica bumpers?

 

uhmm, it was in an accident with the previous owners i think? but see i had a stock bumper on there that looked fine then i put a body kit and it looked like rice so im going back stock, but this bumper just wont fit, and yes i dont think its oem, its plastic.

 

OEM is plastic. Make sure the plastic on the bottom of the bumper goes under the front core support. Happens to me all the time when I need to take my bumper off.

are these bumpers OEM or some crappy off brand? Cuz the off brands never fit right.

You can usually tell. "Certa-fit" bumpers have excess plastic where they cut the bumper. OEM is clean all around, plus on the back of the bumper there should be a stamp that shows when it was made. As well as the Honda part number.

 

If the bumpers were ordered from another junkyard and they are used, they are probably OEM, at least that's how it is where I live. All the Hondas around here in junkyards are usually bumper to bumper OEM parts.

However if they ordered them new from somewhere, they are probably off-brand. I've noticed the only places that actually go through the effort of ordering new OEM parts are body shops and dealerships.

 

took the bumper back, got a used one off another car and i got it on in minutes.. thanks for all your help guys
