Basemap Timing/Retard - LSVtec Turbo 12psi
Hello Honda-Tech!!!
I know that my thread topic is overly common but I feel that I need a bit more insight on the issue. Please point me in the right direction if the answer already exists on another thread.. I searched but I only found partial answers.
My new build:
LSVtec Turbo - 12psi
Garrett T3/T4 (50 trim, .48 *I think*) will verify soon
8.6:1 Wiseco's
Forged Rods
550cc's
2.5 bar Omnipower MAP Sensor
255lph Walbro, 45psi fuel press.
Neptune RTP
91 Octane Pump Gas
HP Goal: 300+/-
Here's my issue:
There is not a single dyno where I live... at least not yet. Street tuning is my only choice. I have the ability to tune AFR's with my AEM wideband, but I am in the dark when it comes to tuning ignition timing. My P28 has no knock sensor circuitry and I don't have an aftermarket knock detection system.
Based on people's guidelines, I have decided to retard timing .75 degrees per PSI of boost, running 91 octane pump gas. I understand that this is just a rough method. To my understanding, this is based on a LSVtec N/A basemap starting point? I opened up a LSVtec N/A basemap and then incorporated the ignition adjustments accordingly. Would this suffice?
Would my low compression pistons significantly alter the ignition map? I should be able to run slightly more aggressive timing over the stock-piston/compression LSVtec base map... correct? If so, to what degree should I advance (before boost)?
I welcome all serious recommendations or other recommended base maps. Since I have no access to a dyno, I can only tune ignition using tried and trusted methods or maps.

With your compression, fuel and turbo size, you would probably be OK with a step retard of .5* per PSI. If you want to be on the safer side, go with .75* per PSI.
I've used s300 with virtual dyno program from Brad BarnHill. Don't know the RTP system and whether or not you can export your logs as CSV files. I'm in the same scenario you are with nothing around. Just a thought.
Good Luck,
Good Luck,
