Just bought a type r, critique my mods!
I just picked up a new to me PY 2000 itr. Im pretty happy about the purchase however I dont know if the current mods are any good. Its hard to find a stock itr and this was modded but at least not abused. The car was used as a promo vehicle for a local tuner shop and was just taken to shows and lightly driven. No track time to speak of and only 32000 miles on the clock.
This is the mod list, I have most of the stock parts so I can always swap these parts out if they are considered really poor choices.....
- Comptech 4-1 header
- Injen cold air
- Invidia exhaust
- MSD ignition wires
- Comptech air filter
- Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
- Stainless steel brake lines
- Momo pedals
- Mugen baffled oil pan
- Konig Toxxin 17's
These are all the parts I could easily swap back to stock, I guess Im wondering if any of this stuff sets off alarms in anyones head as something you shouldnt have on an itr. There are some other things that I will keep for sure that are cosmetic, some red jdm recaro's and a four point PY roll cage.
comments?

what are you goals for the car?
I agree with you on the hood.... I kind of like the wheels though.

well if thats the case. you better get a better alarm system if you want more seat time in it. the alarm system you have now looks like a horrible install job.
If it were mine I'd sell the rims, pedals, hood and use the OEM stock parts.
I'd also get rid of that cage, unless you plan on tracking the car or driving with a helmet on. The caR is really clean and very nice. It's a good/rare find. Good luck with it. Keep it safe.

congrats on the find. that cars pretty much cherry.
if you have no plans to track it, id ditch the cage, slap the oe 15s or even jdm 16s and call it a day.

So does anyone know who makes this hood?
Ill likely keep the cage in for now, I may track the car, like I said above: I have no seat time in the car so Ill drive it and see if I like it.... then maybe ill track it.
I think I may throw in the stock pedals too, the momo ones feel a little weird.

Is the cage a bolt in or weld in? If it's welded, keep it (you really have no choice but to). If it's bolted, just weld it in instead of spending the time to take it out.

Regardless, its your car, do what you want. If you like the wheels, seats, hood, etc., do what you want.
Alarm- If you like the car you need to seriously invest in upgrading the security for it. Most don't realize the very real dangers of owning this caR. Sadly thieves ruin it for the rest of us. To protect it you or a knowledgeable individual should install several security layers to keep it safe. These include, but are not limited to:
-Kill switch(es)
-DEI alarm
-Clifford Blackjax
-GPS tracking (not LoJack)
-Wheelboot
-Trunk monkey
Enjoy the car. Its extremely worth your time to avoid car meets and focus on community run events close to your area. ITR Expo first comes to mind, but also check out the local track groups in your area. Honda Meet is another great example, along with we-todd-did-racing, HFF Challenge, and others out there.
Simply put, I would either pull it and use the factory SRS system or upgrade to FIA fixed back seats and six point harnesses. Most groups will not let you track with a rollbar and OEM SRS components for insurance liability reasons. Since you don't track regularly the rollbar is of little use and could actually hinder the factory SRS components from protecting you in the event of an accident.

That hood looks like a VIS that my buddy had on his car, but there should be a tag on the underside of any hood from a big name company.
If the car was worked on at Speedtech, check all the grounds and wiring to make sure they are connected well and not rubbing anywhere, and get under the car to make sure all the suspension is in good shape, and nothing silly like electrical tape wrapped around rubber boots on tie rods etc.

and i hate to admit i was the one that did this
but
back when i was 16, had an old celica. one day a steering tie rod pops off, both wheels go different directions. what do i do? grab the roll of duck tape, tape it back together and drive down a 55mph highway
