Hey all. I finally decided to register after skimming the forums the past fee weeks. I've searched and searched, finding inconsistent information on what will and what won't work for timing belt covers on LS VTEC setups. The head is a B16A2 off a 1999 Civic Si. Does anyone have a timing cover on their LS VTEC, knowing what actually works and what doesn't?

 

nothing oem works on the inner cover. you'll have to trim some of the nubs on the back until it fits.

 

I assume you're reffering to "number 7" in the following picture?




From what I've gathered, number 7 is the inner upper timing belt cover, number 3 is the outer upper timing belt cover, and number 1 being the middle timing belt cover? The consensus for the lower piece of the timing belt covers seems to be based off of block/oil pump combination, as seen here.

 

correct, #7. the lower cover, #1 depends on the oil pump, doesn't matter on the block as they are all the same for the same given year.
