Icon2 New Header for only M/T?

I am looking into getting a new header for my EJ1. She has an A/T and a D16Z6. The DC header I`m looking at says it`s only for a M/T. When it comes to purchasing a new header, does it really matter whether I have a(n) M/T or A/T? I`ve already asked Marc, I just want to get a few other answers. Not that I don`t trust his answers lol.

Not it does not matter if it is a AT or MT. The header in no way interferes with the trans.

Hope you're right. I would hate to think they specified no automatic transmissions for no reason.

I`m thinking about it and there really should not be a difference at all. I mean the trans cases look the exact same. I can understand if it mattered for a rad but, I could be wrong. I just want to make sure so it doesn`t end up being a $300 mistake...rather be safe than having to wait a week for a refund..

I think it has to do with your cat and o2 sensors.. You may have one of those pre-cats with the exhaust mani and pre cat all 1 part, with a o2 bung.

This is probably the reason.

My exhaust goes as follows: Header>Y-pipe>cat>mid-pipe>exhaust tip. Am I missing something? I know I have a normal exhaust...

I really don't think this affects any 5th gens. Only the 6th gens where the header and cat are one unit.

Then, I should be fine. I mean, it`s a one peice, 4-1 header that goes from the head to the cat, with the bung before the cat for the O2...

The 92-95 CX/VX hatch also have the header/cat in one unit.

News to me. Mental note made. So that means any one piece header/cat combo is the target of the disclaimer. However, the header can still be used if you want to do a little converting of parts.

I honestly can't see any reason why it would matter. I've pulled lots of stock manifolds on both and there is absolutely no difference between them, unless the aftermarket manifold interferes with the automatic transmission stiffener brackets I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

If your cat is under the car you should be fine.

Than I should be fine. Good, I just wanted to make sure before I made a $300 mistake.
