Honda EGR Vacuum
How much vacuum in hg should the EGR have on a 1996 accord LX 2.2 I have 5.0 on hg and egenie died when started egenie runs good and then dies when solenoid is powerd up.
thank for your help.

That actually sounds about right. When at a steady throttle and the egr solenoid opens up it will send about that much constantly to the egr valve. What could be happening is the egr valve could be sticking open or the ports could be clogged so when the valve opens the computer thinks it needs to retard the timing but it doesn't realize the ports are clogged so the exhaust gas doesn't make it to the cylinders. This would be a good time to clean out the egr valve itself and the ports. There is a how-to video on youtube that shows how to the clean the ports for your car. There is a plate that needs to be removed. It's actually fairly easy compared to other cars around the same time. EGR valves themselves are fairly strong. They don't normally go bad they just get caked up with crud inside.
I know the egr valve is not sticking I pull vacuum line off and runs good no vacuum. This hapends when engien is worming up I replaced solenoid still dose the same could be the map sensor dose the map sensor control solenoid. Solenoid pulls vacuum and stays.
Are you saying when you power the solenoid it dies ? If you power the solenoid at idle and it lifts the egr valve, of course the car is going to die.
The solenoid will not even come on by itself until the car is completely warmed up. I think the ecu actually will energize the valve upon startup to test the system, by testing the ecg valve lift and comparing it to where it thinks it should be.
But at any rate, the car needs to be warmed up and there needs to light steady throttle before the solenoid is going to be powered, thus allowing vacuum to the egr valve.
When did this issue start ?

the egr system does not engage until the car is warmed up and operating at part throttle mid rpm cruising. I had always thought that inducing a stall at idle was a good way to test that the ports were NOT clogged!
