HELP! fm modulator causing left side speakers not to work
so i just bought an '97 acura el with a factory cassette player. i plugged in my fm modulator so i could listen to music on my i pod, but as soon as i do, the left side speakers cut out. you can still hear music coming out of those speakers faintly, but it's mostly static. All radio stations come through all four speakers, including the station the modulator is set at (but only when it's not plugged in).
when i first ran into the problem, i didn't realize the modulator was causing the issue, so i replaced the front door speakers. obviously that didn't fix the problem. i've also swapped to a factory cd player, but i am still having the same issue. is there not enough insulation on some of the wires? i've also noticed i get a little static when turning on the rear defroster.
i'm a little baffled about this whole situation, i've been using this same fm modulator in my old '99 civic without issue for over a year, any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
