Default JDM (98 Spec) vs USDM 5 lug conversion

Just wondering what the difference is. I've been told that axles are different sizes.

Just curious but have you heard about different axle size? Something about JDM is thicker than USDM. I was told that getting a USDM 5 lug conversion would be better.
