CRX Suspension Recommendations
So ive been saving up for new coilovers for some time and am unsure on what to get? Im leaning towards the GC/Koni setup BUT am not set on anything. My budget is about $1200. This is my DD and Im looking to have it sit about a half an inch to around an inch from the fender. Im also planning on getting a new bushing set!
Suggestions Im looking for are the best setup in my budget and the ideal spring rate for a DD in Los Angeles(beatup streets)

Koni/gc would do fine with the proper spring rates. Would also leave money for the bushings, and a alignment.
The next step from that would AMR coilovers, but they would cost a little more and could be totaly overkill for you.

I’ve got Ground Control and Koni Yellow dampers with 4 Ground Control upper hats on my 1991 CRX. My spring rates are 400 lb/in front and 325 lb/in rear. My ride height is low with the top of the tire below the fender because it isn’t my daily driver. Three things I didn’t like about them was the lack of instructions for the top hats, one of the ground controls was machined a little off so adjusting the ride height takes some muscle to raise/lower the spring perches, and I prefer two locking spring perches to the allen bolt lock because with the ground control you have to set the height where you’re able to access the allen bolt. Other than that, I’m happy with my set-up.
It’s a little above your budget, but maybe you could try Tein SSPs. Tein is located in Downey, CA, so is you have questions, problems, or need something custom, they’re close. Also, they work with the EDFC, which you could save up for later. Few LA roads and freeways are smooth, some are very bumpy, and most are in-between. Being able to adjust to different dampening settings on-the-fly would very useful in Southern California.
