Default 91 Civic Wagon RT4WD Vibration

Hello HT...

Okay...Big Issue I have been trying to solve and really getting no where, maybe you guys can help me.

I go take a 3 Hour trip to buy me a 91 Civic Wagon RT4WD, Known issue was the guy replaced the passenger side tie rod and it "needs an alignment".

So the known issue is that it is vibrating at 50 MPH +, The Faster you go the worse it gets..Anyway..I take the trip back home with it and 10 Minutes before I get home, I drive over a bridge that dips down a little bit and something falls out from what I could notice the front of the car. Stopped immediately and could not find anything, I ended up driving it home and noticed, no more vibration at 50+ MPH, No Vibration at all, infact it ran great no problems for 3 Days straight.

One day after work when I was driving home with it, I was feeling frisky..gunned it and tried to do a sharp left turn, the car seemed to act weird, can't really explain how it felt when I did that but than right after that I noticed it was Vibrating worse, only now it was vibrating at lower speeds 25+ MPH.

I asked around and found a shop to take it to, the guy looked at it and said I need a new drive line my u-joint is bad. He can't replace the u-joint without breaking the drive shaft. So disappointed I take the car and think of what I could do. As I drive back home with it, It only vibrates at 50+ MPH, I make a very soft slow (3-5MPH) right turn. I hear something pop ( a little like when a CV Joint goes out..but not exactly the case.) I take it to another shop that I heard about to see what they say about it, they gave me some advise to try, to put it into neutral when I am having the vibration problem, that would tell me if its a Drive shaft issue or not..and so I was like okay, set up my appointment and took the car out to try it, I get up to speed and everything works fine like nothing ever happened AGAIN.

So this all leaves me honestly puzzled, It's totally leaving me to something the front and not the rear..I have been told many things that could be wrong, like Axle, Drive Shaft, Rear Trailing Arm Bushings, and they don't really seem to have any issues, not saying they don't but I would like to see what kind of advise I could get from you guys.

Thank you..

The wheel bearings seem to be fine, there is no play what so ever.

Worn U joints will cause vibrations. I haven't heard of having to break the tail shaft to fix them though, that's bizarre.

Would it go away and come back? Also now I feel the faint shake at higher speeds coming from the back.

Well, the problem would always be there, but it may only be noticeable with certain situations such as high engine load, certain rpm, road surface etc. If you get under the car and you can feel movement within the U joint then it will definitely be causing A vibration.
