3rd gear hard to get into on downshift
this problem only started in the last week or so and is pretty consistent. I have a stock b18c1 tranny with 180k on it that is hard to get into 3rd but only when i downshift from 4th. When i move the selector forward into 3rd, there is a hard stop, then i have to push forward even harder to get it into gear. Going up through the gears is no problem though.
Yes, the clutch is completely disengaged when this happens and i put amsoil MTF in it about 6 months ago. I dont know enough about transmissions to diagnose this problems so any help is appreciated.

I would say the selector, shift fork, or slider sleeve/hub would be the first things I would look into. I have seen some instances in a car with high mileage, where the hole actually wore oblong where the selector pin sits, and the selector was moving around slightly and would make certain gears really hard to get into on certain movements.
Yeah. I'd look into the same things. As stated, the shift fork bushings definitely wear sometimes (can't really replace JUST them either). I've even had an upper case somehow get damaged to where the 5/R fork bore was misaligned and would jam up in reverse. Transmissions do weird things. :S
Yes the bores in the case too, I forgot to mention that. Good stuff Bull. I have experienced the exact same thing with the reverse lock out on a mis-aligned/worn case.
